Elevated Engagement provides a variety of services and support for energy equity and justice efforts to meet our clients’ needs and aspirations.

Tanya Paslawski is the founder and principal of Elevated Engagement.

She is an attorney and energy industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in regulatory policy analysis, development, and advocacy. She served in a variety of leadership roles in the public and private sector on state and federal policy issues and was appointed by Michigan Governor Whitmer to the Michigan Council on Climate Solutions and the Upper Peninsula Energy Task Force.

Tanya is co-founder and facilitator for Advancing White Anti-Racist Education (AWARE), providing training and supported conversations on systemic inequities and tools for change. She was also the lead author of State Energy Justice Roundtable Series: Participation in Decision Making, a publication of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

She has a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law with a concentration in environmental and natural resource law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Oakland University. She is licensed to practice law in Michigan. Tanya is also a certified meditation instructor.

Jennifer Murphy is a principal at Elevated Engagement.

Jennifer Murphy is an attorney and resource management specialist with over 20 years of experience in state and federal government and non-profit organizations.  Prior to joining Elevated Engagement, Jennifer served as Senior Director of Energy Policy and Senior Counsel for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC).  Jennifer oversaw NARUC’s energy policy development and handled NARUC’s energy-related legal and policy work before the federal courts and federal agencies, including serving as the NARUC staff lead for its participation in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Joint Federal-State Task Force on Electric Transmission.  

In addition, Jennifer has worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities in the Legal Division and the Division of Regional and Federal Affairs.  Jennifer also clerked for the Connecticut Appellate Court, worked as an international affairs specialist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and was a Sea Grant Fellow for the Committee on Resources, U.S. House of Representatives.

Jennifer has a law degree from Vermont Law and Graduate School, a Master of Marine Affairs degree and a Master of Arts in International Studies degree from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with a minor in German from Tufts University.  She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
